1. Q: What does it mean to shoot on 35mm film?
A: 35mm film is different from digital in that a film camera exposes a roll to light with each click of a button. Usually, in 1 roll of film, there is a limit of 36 times to which a roll of film can be exposed. (There are film rolls that have 24 exposure or X, but 290 strictly uses 36 for standardization purposes). Once you have exposed the film roll or strip 36 times (+/-1), the roll has to then be developed using a chemical process. Yet, for this reason the amount of photos offered in a shoot are fixed and dependent on how many rolls are purchased before hand. Also for this reason, you CANNOT see the photos as they are being taken. For this reason, trust is a major component when deciding to conduct a photoshoot on film.

2. Q: So you don't shoot on digital at all?
A: Nope. Sorry.

3. Q: How long does it take for photos to come out?
A: Once the photoshoot has been concluded, 290 will deliver the photos to a trusted film photo developing service. This service sends the rolls to their main regional office for developing every Wednesday. It will then take about 1 week (until the next Wednesday) for the photos to be developed. Yet, depending on volume size, it may take company service longer to develop the photos. However, it will take 290 anywhere from 3-5 days to edit the photos once they are received, depending on the season and quantity of photos in the package.
Given this information, let's say your photoshoot is on Thursday, the developing will not receive your photos until the following Wednesday. It will then take one week from that Wednesday for the scans to come back. Once the scans come back (nearly 2 weeks later), the extra time for editing must be allotted for.
Hence, please allow, at least 2-3 weeks to receive for your photos. If you need them faster, you can purchase the add-on for a rush order. This will decrease the wait time for both the scans of the developer and decrease the wait time for the editing process to 1-2 days. Check the Booking section of the website for more information.

4. Q: How will I get my photos?
A: Photos will be delivered via a Dropbox link.

5. Q: What will the photos turn out like?
A: 290 can never truly predict what photos will turn out like. Hence, one can never fully know until they receive the photos back from the developer. Many factors impact the final product, with the most important being light exposure, which varies on the time of day and the weather. Do be reassured that the upmost level of thought and intentionality is invested into every individual shot.

6. Q: Do you travel for events or portraits?
A: As of right now, 290 can easily travel within Rhode Island and to Boston given a 2 week notice. For other cities, please email 290disco@gmail.com to further discuss.

7. Q: What types of shoots do you do?
A: Please refer to the portfolio section for more information, but 290 currently captures portraits, creative shoots, events, and concerts.

8. Q: What if I need to cancel my session?
A: All cancellations made less than 48 hours before the shoot will incur a fee of 25% of the initial price. Additionally, all deposits are non-refundable and will not be returned.
